241 Conceptual Physics

(Wt. 1.00, 1 Unit)

Prerequisite: Successful completion of one year of science w/Lab.

This course is recommended for students interested in physics without the regents lab requirement. Laboratory investigations are done during regular class periods.

The course is an introduction to physical science and is designed for students whose career plans may include such as technicians, mechanics, military or general construction. Themes are incorporated in alignment with the standards set forth by

251 Regents Physics w/ Lab

(Wt. 1.00, 1 Unit)

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Integrated Algebra.

Regents Physics is a math based survey course with a mandatory lab requirement. Topics include: mechanics, energy, waves, sound, and light. This is a preparatory class for AP Physics or University Physics.

247 AP Physics w/Lab

(Wt. 1.05, 1 Unit)

Prerequisite: Completion of Math A (1, 2, and 3) and Math B (1, 2, and 3) with 85 or better on the Regents examinations in those courses

AP physics is a math-based survey course of physics with a strong lab requirement. Topics covered include: mechanics, motion, waves, optics, electricity and nuclear energy. It is expected that students take the AP Physics exam in May.
