Position Title: Substitute Teacher Aides (3-5 hrs. per day)

Salary/Pay Scale: $7.99 per hour

Requirements:
Must be familiar with classroom routine; able to communicate effectively; able to establish and maintain discipline, tact, courtesy, dependability and good judgment. Must have a neat personal appearance.

Minimum requirement of high school diploma or GED. Fingerprint clearance through NYS Education is required PRIOR to being permitted to sub in any classroom. Fingerprinting fee is currently $91.50.

Description:

Under the general supervision of the teacher, substitute teacher aides will assist teachers with that part of their duties than can be done by non-professional personnel. Will provide remedial assistance to students who require additional help in certain subject matters following guidelines established by the teacher.

Assists in routine classroom housekeeping chores; assists teachers with corridor, lunchroom and other monitoring duties; assists teachers and students in selecting supplementary materials from the library; may assist teachers with preparation of instructional materials and bulletin boards; may organize and participate in group games, reading, music and related activities; proctors and otherwise helps to conduct examinations; occasionally oversees class when the teacher is out of the room.
