Time Line and Requirements
Battle of the Books is a reading motivation and comprehension program. The goals of this program are to encourage and recognize students who enjoy reading, broaden their reading interests, increase their reading comprehension, and promote academic excellence.
December 5th - January 6th - Read two books and fill out forms of story details. Hand forms in to Mrs. McHugh.
- After reading two books and filling out the forms, get a contract from Mrs. McHugh.
- The contract must be signed by both the student and parent/guardian and be turned in by January 10th! Money ($5 cash) and size for a B.O.B. t-shirt will also be turned in at this time.
January and February - Continue to read books and take notes on each one.
- Teams will be formed and a coach will be assigned.
- Practice for the battles with your team members and coach.
March - Building Battles at FLS - 3rd and 4th grade Battle March 16th @ 2:30 in the APR
- 5th and 6th grade Battle March 13th @ 2:30 in the APR
March - District Battle March 28th @ 5:30 at Charles E. Riley Elementary School April - County Battle April 25th @6:00 at Hannibal High School
