Letter: False report of weapon at OHS

October 28, 2021

Dear Oswego City School District Community,

I am writing to share that late this afternoon the district received an anonymous call which alleged that a student had brought in a weapon to Oswego High School. This call was received at dismissal time.

Upon receiving this information, the district’s School Resource Officers and local authorities were immediately contacted. Together, the district and local authorities fully investigated this matter and our investigation determined the allegations were false and this anonymous report was not credible. We wanted to make you aware of this to be as transparent as possible and to dispel any rumors circulating.

Please know, there will be additional police on hand tomorrow morning to assist students with making a smooth transition back into school.

Should any parents or guardians have any questions or concerns, they should contact the Oswego High School Principal, Mr. Ryan Lanigan at 315-341-2202.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this information.

Yours in Education,
Mathis Calvin III, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Schools
