Letter: Spectator capacity updates 1.25

Important Update – Spectator capacity increases at OCSD events

January 25, 2022

Dear Oswego City School District community,

As you know, we have in the past couple of months implemented a limit on spectators per student to Oswego City School District events, including athletic contests, concerts and the like, due to the sharp rise in community spread of COVID-19.

With the data showing that surge beginning to slow community wide, we are happy to announce that effective Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022 we are able to remove spectator limits and return to allowing all visitors who wish to attend events.

Please know that while we are excited to allow more attendees, COVID-19 numbers continue to be a concern and there will be added emphasis on safety procedures like mask-wearing and maintaining social distance. The pandemic is still here, and the district is seeing daily impacts to its staff, teachers and students.

While it is our hope and goal to continue at full capacity for our events, we continually evaluate the data and consult with our local health professionals, and if needed may reinstate limits based on local COVID-19 numbers.

As always, we continue to encourage proper mitigation techniques such as social distancing, wearing an appropriate facemask when necessary, staying home when feeling sick and consistent hand hygiene. Any questions or concerns may be directed to the OCSD COVID-19 hotline at 315-341-2050.

Yours in Education,
Mathis Calvin III, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools
