Letter 2/25: Temp and health screenings no longer required

February 25, 2022

Dear Oswego City School District families,

I hope that you have had a nice winter break even though it seems we have experienced every season throughout the course of the week. I am writing today to inform parents and guardians of an update to our COVID-19 procedures in all our schools.

Beginning Monday, Feb. 28, 2022, when we return from break, temperature checks as students enter buses and buildings will no longer be required. In addition, parents and students will no longer need to fill out and submit the district’s weekly health screening.

These changes are related to a large decrease in community spread and feedback regarding how the data is used.

Please continue to keep your children at home if sick and get them tested should they exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms. OCSD will continue to utilize and encourage measures such as social distancing, masking and proper hand hygiene to help keep community spread on the decline.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation while consulting with local and state health officials and will keep the community updated as further changes take place.

Thank you for your time and I hope you have a pleasant weekend.

Yours in Education,
Dr. Mathis Calvin III
Superintendent of Schools
