Leighton Elementary School honors Veterans with heartfelt ceremony

Leighton Elementary School celebrated Veterans Day with a special ceremony dedicated to honoring veterans in the school community, including family members of current students. Veterans were warmly welcomed to the school, where they were recognized for their service in a moving tribute.
The ceremony featured speeches from Leighton’s students, who shared information pertaining to each of the military branches. The event also included an interview with a member of the coast guard as well as a stirring rendition of the national anthem performed by a school staff member.
Stephanie A. Griffin expressed pride in the students’ involvement, noting her gratitude to everyone who participated in meaningful celebration, included her own father, a veteran.
