Reading Buddy program inspires young readers

The reading buddy program is designed to inspire a love of reading and build literacy skills among elementary school students, pairing younger students with older peer mentors.

Under the guidance of teachers and staff, Reading Buddies meet regularly to practice reading skills, share books and engage in fun literacy activates.

Fitzhugh Park Elementary School students put a fall twist on the program making craft trees and turkeys together.
The program encourages younger students to feel more confident in their reading abilities, while older students gain valuable experience in mentorship and leadership.
