OHS senior earns national recognition

Oswego High School senior Maggie O'Leary was recently recognized as a commended student in the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Program for her performance on the PSAT test.
O’Leary is among an elite group of students across the country to earn this distinction. Each year, approximately 1.5 million high school juniors take the PSAT/NMSQT. Of those participants, around 34,000 high scorers receive the commended student designation, which highlights their impressive academic achievements and potential for future success.
“We are incredibly proud of Maggie’s hard work and dedication,” said OHS Principal Raina Hinman. “Being named a commended student is a significant achievement that reflects her commitment to both her studies and her future. Maggie’s recognition is not only a personal honor but also a point of pride for our school and community.”
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), a not-for-profit organization, was established in 1955 to recognize and encourage academically talented students throughout the United States. The NMSC’s mission is to promote scholastic excellence and provide scholarship opportunities for exceptional students.
