OCSD Teams Advance in Battle of the Books

Months of reading, dedication and hard work recently culminated in victory for two Oswego City School District teams during the Battle of the Books competition.
The competition required participants to read eight books and tested their recall ability to identify the book and author being described in each question. Students’ literary knowledge and teamwork were both on display during the recent battle held in the high school auditorium.
At the primary level, the team from Kingsford Park School claimed the top spot. Comprised of Clara Kane, Kaia Leonard, Kendyl Wilcox, and alternate Frank Cook, the team impressed judges with their exceptional knowledge of the competition's book selection.
The intermediate level battle was equally competitive, with the team from Minetto Elementary emerging as champions. Team members Olive Cummins, Nora Kelly and Grace Natoli demonstrated their impressive recall and teamwork to secure victory.
Both winning teams have earned the opportunity to represent the Oswego City School District at the upcoming regional Battle of the Books competition, scheduled for April 7 at John C. Birdlebough High School in Phoenix.
"We are incredibly proud of all our students who participated in this year's Battle of the Books," said OMS Library Media Specialist Mary Alice Brennan-Steere. "Their dedication, teamwork, and enthusiasm for reading are truly inspiring. We look forward to seeing our winning teams excel at the regional competition."
