OMS students receive honors for display of kindness OMS students receive honors for display of kindness: Ten Oswego Middle School students were recently honored for exhibiting kindness throughout the month of October.   To receive this honor, students not only displayed kindness toward themselves but toward others and the school community.   “These student leaders help to make our OMS community a better place. Their good character is appreciated and is an inspiration to everyone. Congratulations and keep up the great work!” said Assistant Principal, Judith Osetek   The following students earned recognition for the character education award: seventh-graders Brayden Stancliffe, Eve Mackenzie, Kiara Rosa, Derek Gibson, Kiyarah Bragg; and eighth-graders Kailyn Van Buren, Michael Conzone, Kayla Turner, Maddox Mazzoli and Ashton Smith.

KPS teachers take “pie in the eye” for holiday giving project KPS teachers take “pie in the eye” for holiday giving project: Kingsford Park Elementary students were incentivized to donate full sized toiletries for the annual holiday giving project to be able to pie a teacher in the face.   The holiday giving project benefits KPS families in need. Boxes with teachers’ names were located in the main office for students to place their ballot in, which they were given each time they donated a full-sized toiletry item. The three teachers who received the most votes got a “pie in the eye” from a student.   “The KPS Student Council collected socks, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste and deodorant for families in our community for the upcoming holidays. OHS brings fun competition to celebrate Halloween OHS brings fun competition to celebrate Halloween:   On Oct. 26, in the library of Oswego High School, students participated in the second annual sugar skull decorating contest in honor of Halloween.   The after-school event created a fun environment of competition between students as they painted the sugar skulls in hopes to win a ten-dollar Dunkin’ gift card.   Skulls were closely judged by Ms. Billie Jo Peterson, who named Clayton Andrews the winner of this year’s contest.   In Dec. OHS Librarian, Ms. Iorio and OHS Library Clerk, Mrs. O’Brien will host ornament decorating after school. Hot cocoa and snacks will be provided to all students who participate.  
Letter: Bomb threat at OHS 11.2 not credible Letter: Bomb threat at OHS 11.2 not credible: November 2, 2021 Dear Oswego City School District Community, I am writing to share that late Tuesday afternoon, prior to dismissal, administrators from Oswego High School received a report that an alleged threat was written in a bathroom stall. Given this alleged threat, school officials immediately began to assess its credibility. While doing so, the entire high school was evacuated until staff and school resource officers were able to complete a thorough assessment of the building. Due to proximity, Leighton Elementary School enacted a shelter-in-place as well. After completing their assessment, school officials were able to determine that there was no credibility to this threat . OHS Drama Club presents “Check Please” OHS Drama Club presents “Check Please”: Oswego High School Drama Club is set to take to the stage Nov. 12 and 13 for the production of “Check Please (Takes 1 and 2).”   Show times will be 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 and Nov. 13 at the Oswego High School Theater. Admission is free, however, donations will be accepted at the door in support. Letter: False report of weapon at OHS Letter: False report of weapon at OHS: October 28, 2021 Dear Oswego City School District Community, I am writing to share that late this afternoon the district received an anonymous call which alleged that a student had brought in a weapon to Oswego High School. This call was received at dismissal time. Upon receiving this information, the district’s School Resource Officers and local authorities were immediately contacted. Together, the district and local authorities fully investigated this matter and our investigation determined the allegations were false and this anonymous report was not credible. October 7, 2021  Information October 7, 2021 Information:   10/7/21 Dear Oswego City School District Community, I am writing to share that earlier today, Oswego High School administrators received a report that a student had allegedly brought a gun to school some time earlier in the school year and showed it to several students. Immediately after receiving this report, district officials began an investigation in partnership with the Oswego County Sheriff’s School Resource Officer Program and the Oswego Police Department. While doing so, we’ve learned that the student may have brought a BB gun into school at some point earlier in the school year. This investigation is ongoing. It is important to note that, at this time, our investigation does not demonstrate that any student or staff member is in any danger. ...

Multiple COVID vaccine clinics week of 9/27 Multiple COVID vaccine clinics week of 9/27: The Oswego County Health Department is holding multiple COVID-19 clinics the final week of September. One clinic will be held from 1 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Oswego County Health Department, located at 70 Bunner Street in the city of Oswego.   This week’s COVID Clinic Vaccines on Wednesday include: FDA approved Pfizer, the Moderna Vaccine and the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson Vaccine.   There will also be a clinic at the Williamstown Fire Department on Thursday, Sept. 30 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be offered.   Registration links can be found on the OCHD website. Appointments are preferred, however walk-ins are welcome.  
OCSD tax collection set to begin Oct. 1 OCSD tax collection set to begin Oct. 1: Tax collection for Oswego City School District residents will soon be open and district officials are reminding the public of their payment options.   Beginning Oct. 1, OCSD tax collection runs through Feb. 28, 2022.   In-person cash payments can be made by appointment only, with office hours running Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.   Payment by mail can be sent to P.O. Box 890, Oswego, N.Y. 13126.   There is also a drop box available 24 hours per day inside the warehouse at 224 West Utica Street.   Credit card and e-check payment options are available via the district website, Oswego.org.   Payment receipts will be sent via mail.   Those with further questions may reach out to OCSD Tax Collector Joyce ...
